Archon menu: ☜ Back to Index

September 06, 2022

Archon is a series of ‘map’ images from an imaginary videogame. This is a study towards the graphics window feature of Grotto. The piece is supported by an article about games and visionary architecture, submitted to the DMA journal FLAT. The outputs are a book and a series of projected transparencies. The overhead projector used is housed in a custom cabinet which also features a small book-slot for the book. The images are a conversation between grid-based tile paintings and a wave function collapse algorithm. The input image is revised after every generated output. Likewise, outputs can serve as prompts for corrections and new input images.

I won’t be posting the article or output images here.
